Scicli

Scicli is a baroque jewel nestled between the rocks and the Ragusa coast. Via Francesco Mormina Penna is the most suggestive street in the city. Scenic, with its Neoclassical style noble palaces of the 1800s and 1900s and the beautiful late Baroque ecclesiastical architecture in golden stone of the local quarries. It represents a true realization of the Baroque idea of light, space and harmony.

The unmissable “Costume Museum” is set up along the beautiful Via Francesco Mormina Penna, inside a former monastery, with large sections dedicated to popular clothing and Sicilian traditions.

The castle of Scicli, in south-eastern Sicily, on the slopes of the Iblei, about eight kilometers from the sea, stands on a rocky spur of barrier at the confluence of two very deep valleys, that of S. Maria la Nova, to the west and that of of S. Bartolomeo, to the east. It is a real natural acropolis, about 227 meters high.
